About Lawhaha

About Lawhaha.com. You might be wondering, what exactly is Lawhaha.com? At its most fundamental level, it’s the only combination of letters not already registered as an internet domain name in 2001.

But it grew up to become much more than that as the only academically oriented legal humor and commentary site, your one-stop trustworthy source for large archives of legal humor history in a variety of categories. It’s written for both legal professionals and non-legal folks.

So long to the good old purple and yellow.

Lawhaha.com was recently revamped. Gone–with nostalgia–is the old purple and yellow (representing the premodern era of website development), replaced by this stylin’ WordPress blog.

Some of the content categories have been around since the beginning and contain large collections. Others are new and need more content.

Lawhaha.com Needs Your Help. Lawhaha.com is just a small sideline for McClurg and depends on visitor contributions to keep growing. All of the funny law school stories and most other submissions posted here came from loyal Lawhaha.com visitors like you.

So send along any content you encounter that presents a reasonable risk of proximately causing comic/stress relief among legal professionals and the public at large. Use the Contact link at the top of every page, which allows attachments.

Suggestions for Submitting Content. Lawhaha.com aims to be accurate and does not post items that are undocumented.

Much of what passes for legal humor has never been documented and some of it has been proven false. As a result, when people read accounts of weird product warnings, wacky laws or bizarre cases that lack documentation, they have no way of knowing whether they’re real or made up (see Legal Mythbusters).

When submitting content, please include:

• Judicials orders, orders, pleadings. Complete citation information and, if possible, a link to or attachment of the complete text.

• Funny law school stories. The name of the law school and year (or approximate year) of the event.

• Warning labels. An image of the actual label.

• Spot the Tort. An image of the potentially dangerous condition and general location (such as the city).

If you came across the item on another website, let us know so we can give proper credit. If you spot an inaccuracy while you’re here, let us know. We want to get it right.

Thanks for your help! Lawhaha.com wouldn’t exist without you.

Feedback. Feedback is always welcome at Lawhaha.com, where, after a decade, the motto remains: “Let’s build a great legal humor network that’s great, legal, humorous and doesn’t depend on cheap lawyer jokes.”
